Think of it as reading a book where you can instantly jump to related sections or even other books with a click. This concept enables a non-linear exploration of information. For example, while reading about space exploration, a hyperlink might direct you to a detailed biography of a specific astronaut. These links connect various pieces of content, making it easy to explore topics without a fixed sequence. Hypertext is fundamental to the World Wide Web, allowing the interconnectedness of websites and creating dynamic, interactive experiences for users.

Uses and Types of Hypertext:

Use:-

- Web Browsing: Hypertext is most commonly used on the internet, linking different pages and resources, enabling users to easily navigate various topics and multimedia content.

- Educational Resources: In online learning platforms, hypertext allows the integration of text, images, and videos, offering students an interactive learning experience.

- Digital Documentation: Manuals and help files use hypertext to link related topics, making it easier for users to find and understand information.

- Content Management Systems (CMS): Websites and blogs use hypertext in CMS platforms to organize and link content, facilitating user navigation through articles, categories, and tags.

Types:  

- Embedded Hypertext: The most common type, where links are embedded directly in the text or images on a webpage, leading to another part of the document or a different webpage.

- Axial Hypertext: This follows a more linear structure, guiding users through a predefined path, often used in educational materials or tutorials.

- Global Hypertext: Links that connect documents across different websites or domains, forming the backbone of the World Wide Web.

- Local Hypertext: Links that are confined within a single document or website, allowing users to navigate within the content without leaving the site.

Digital Humanities (DH) is an academic field that integrates digital technology with the study of humanities. It involves the use of digital tools to advance research in areas such as literature, history, and culture. DH encourages collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and the use of computational techniques, recognizing the increasing role of the digital world in creating and disseminating knowledge beyond the constraints of traditional print media.

What Does Digital Humanities Do? 

1. Computational Humanities: DH uses digital technology to analyze literary texts and improve teaching methods, fostering innovative approaches like generative literature.

2. Multi-modal Critique: DH blends critical inquiry with digital methods, as demonstrated by the University of Birmingham’s CLiC Project, which offers resources for teaching literature through digital tools. The "CLiC – Corpus Linguistics in Context: An Activity Book" is an example of how DH can enhance literature education, combining methodology with thematic activities to support learning.
